Domogan urges Lions Club members to stand proud for serving humanity

BAGUIO CITY – Rep. Mauricio G. Domogan rallied members of various Lions Club members to stand proud for belonging to an organization that has served humanity for more than a century.
“Stand proud because we are heirs of the vision of Melvin Jones. Stand proud because we carry the courage and compassion symbolized by the lion. Stand proud because we belong to a family of servants whose influence reaches every corner of the world. And stand proud because long after titles fade, applause ends and ceremonies conclude, the lives we touch through service will continue to expect for us. For in the end, the true measure of a Lion is not how loudly he rules, but how faithfully he serves,” Domogan stressed during the recent 7th Charter anniversary, Induction and Installation of Officers and new members of the Baguio Family and Friends (BFF) Lions Club and BFF Leo Club where he served as the guest of honor and speaker.
He challenged the newly installed officers of both the Lions and Leo Clubs to lead with humility, integrity, vision, and compassion and for them to lead not for personal recognition, but for collective impact and that may they lead behind a legacy worthy of those who will follow them.
“Years from now, people may not remember every meeting we attended. They may not remember every speech we delivered. They may not remember every title they held. But they will remember who helped them when they were struggling. They will remember who stood beside them during difficult times. They will remember who cared and that is the enduring power of Lionism, not the banners, not the ceremonies, not the medals, but the lives transformed through service,” Domogan added.
The Baguio lawmaker pointed out that technology has connected the world, yet, many people feel more isolated than ever since information is abundant, yet compassion seems often scarce and in such a time as this, organizations like Lions clubs become even more important because while governments can build roads, it takes caring citizens to build communities.
According to him, programs can provide assistance, but only compassionate hearts can provide genuine human connection. Policies can improve conditions, but service transforms lives that is why the work of the Lions clubs matters, every medical mission matters, every feeding matters, every scholarship matters, every tree planted matters, every child encouraged matters, every senior citizen assisted matters, every act of kindness matters because every life matters.
Congress Representative Domogan urged the Lions Club members to be courageous to stand for what is right, be strong enough to carry the burdens of others, be vigilant enough to recognize needs before they become a crisis, be dignified enough to serve without seeking applause, and be compassionate enough to use their strength to protect others.
He emphasized that the world does not need more people watching from the sidelines, it needs men and women willing to step forward and serve, it needs Lions.
